Tasmania Is Incredible And You Should Go There Now

Image
Tasmania is probably my new favourite place in the world. I fell for it harder than I have anywhere else. More than I did Thailand, Cambodia, the Philippines or Slovenia. It is just so ridiculously gorgeous.  Before I write about my time in Tasmania in detail, I’d first like to share a few of my favourite photos from my week spent on the island. Hopefully they’ll convince you to visit one day, it truly is a wonderful part of the world. We began in Hobart, state capital of Tasmania and all-round wonderful city that provided a welcome relief from the major cities in Australia. I hadn’t warmed to either Sydney or Melbourne but fell in love with Hobart in seconds. There were no towering glass skyscrapers here. Instead the streets were lined with old Georgian buildings; former warehouses and port buildings converted into small restaurants, cafes and craft shops. The weather was fantastic, which, as I was told repeatedly, is a bit of a rarity for the city. While the temp...

Embracing Aloha Spirit at a Luau on Kaanapali Beach

Image
After having spent two weeks rushing around visiting Oahu and the Big Island, I was spending my final week in Hawaii relaxing in a small rental home in Napili Bay, West Maui. I was due to go home in just a few days and as a spur of the moment decided there was no way I could return without having visited an authentic Hawaiian Luau. I did my research and decided to choose the Royal Lahaina Luau in Lahaina, Maui. It was the closest luau to where we were staying, and the reviews on TripAdvisor favoured this luau above others. The luau itself will set you back $82, and is $38 for children aged 6-11. There is the opportunity to buy a ticket just to the show without the meal and Imu ceremony and these tickets are priced at $37 and $17 for adults and children respectively. The show is held right on Kaanapali Beach just in front of the Westin Kaanapali, so you have gorgeous views of the ocean as well as neighbouring islands in the distance. Kaanapali Beach Upon arriving, I had to queue for ...

Motorcycle Road Trip In The Canadian Rockies

Image
Bow Lake & Glacier Canada This summer I rented a Harley Davidson motorcycle for a Canadian Rockies road trip through beautiful national parks in both Alberta and British Columbia. The area is full of scenic landscapes and diverse wildlife. The motorcycle road trip began in Calgary. I was able to rent a Harley online before arriving in Canada, picking out a black 2013 Street Glide I nicknamed “Black Betty”. At 1600 cc’s, she is a beast. To practice handling her on the road, I initially avoided the Trans-Canada Highway , enjoying the scenic and winding route 1A West towards Canmore. Banff National Park was next, motoring North along the famous Icefields Parkway. Passing pristine turquoise blue lakes and ancient snow-covered glaciers along the way. Deer and elk were plentiful on the sides of the road. After slowly making my way to the town of Jasper enjoying the epic views and cold fresh air whipping past, I grabbed a bite to eat in town, and found a nearb...
